Julie studied at Duncan of Jordanstone achieving her BA Honours degree in 2003. She is currently based in Edinburgh at Coburg House Art Studios where she gets lots of inspiration from the beautiful Edinburgh architecture.
Julie started off designing and creating her jewellery inspired from her memories for her degree show and it has continued and developed ever since. She describes her work as a quirky, narrative collection of hand drawn memories. A lot of Julie’s work tends to bring out the inner child in her wearer. The kinetic elements on her rings and bangles refer to her childhood days with 10p mix-ups.
The pieces are hand crafted from oxidised silver. To add colour and interest to her work Julie uses ‘lazertran’, a transfer paper that can be applied and sealed onto metal.
