Using a combination of printmaking, drawing and intricate cut paper collage Louise is inspired by the gardens, countryside and coast of Kent and East Sussex. Once she has made drawings, she cuts several lino blocks and prints in many layers combined with monoprinting and stencilling. Applying the paper cut elements to the surface and adding any additional details with line drawing, using inks, she creates the final unique piece, a monoprint.
Louise was privileged to work at Sissinghurst Castle Garden, as artist in residence. Visiting the garden often, she made work which celebrates the seasons, along with the planting, structure, beauty and history of this fascinating garden.
"I feel I have only just touched the surface and I am drawn to continue my exploration of this wonderful garden. I am also developing my work in a more personal direction; telling stories about my life through the plants, people and places I encounter."
