Sarah GroveSarah is a London based ceramicist who parodies sumptuous upholstery and rich textured fabrics which even when old and sagging suggest comfort and luxury, she uses porcelain to make functional vessels for the home such as jugs and vases. By pressing slabs of porcelain into plaster casts of textiles, from which she can hand build her pieces from, she makes porcelain mimic upholstered padding, buttoned silk, waffle and even mock ostrich. She then uses mother of pearl lustre for the details of tacks, buttons and braiding.
