Susanne’s way of working is based on the traditional craftsmenship of pottery in Germany and her work is influenced by Far Eastern ceramics, especially from Korea, China and Japan.
She finds firing with wood very significant, with that connection to the whole process of the 4 elements – earth, water, wind and fire. Her inspiration comes from the nature around where she works as she completely immerses herself in her work.
“If I could work for four weeks without the interruptions of everyday life, I would concentrate on making pots that possess freedom and fluidity. It would be wonderful to do this in a magic place with lots of new inspirations.”
She produces fine tableware and tea ceramics that bring a strength and calmness to the person who uses them.
