Elmina Fors Knitwear was started in 2014 after Elmina graduated from University of Brighton where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Knitted Textiles with honours.
Elmina was born and raised in Kiruna, the northernmost city of Sweden with midnight sun during the summer and long icy and dark winters. Wool and it's natural warming properties was a constant in everyday life as well as functional clothing that could withstand the elements.
She uses a hand operated electronic knitting machine from the 1980's and yarns made of super soft Merino Lambs wool and other natural fibres such as linen and cotton. "Using natural fibres for me is partly because they feel good to wear, but also to promote using naturally renewable resources that have been used for thousands of years. To see something come together, selecting colours and designing intricate patterns is what I love most about my time in my studio."
