Janet Melrose RSW
"When the days shorten and light is at a premium my work begins to change. I feel that I am back in touch with the elements that interest me. The geese arrive and join the rooks and two sets of flight lines appear. With the arrival of snow I am able to see more clearly the interactions which take place between land, birds and sky.. For some of the paintings Janet used the snow with watercolour and allowed the balls of snow to melt and disperse the pigment.
I have found that I work more from feelings, a sensing of a place and the paintings begin from this and flow, spill onto the paper or gesso panel. I work intuitively;in the moment, without distraction or analysis, a gentler approach but one which draws upon something deep within and without."
