"My work begins with observational drawing in my sketchbooks with photos. Back in my studio i work in etching and woodcut because i enjoy the craft involved in the printmaking process. Etching enables me to experiment with line, tones and textures, producing very different outcomes while always allowing me to return to the original drawings to experiment again. The final edition is the result of these experiments and feels like a satisfying resolution to the drawing process. Wood cut is different, as each cut is definitive, but the craft of turning a drawing into a woodblock and printing from it is a deeply satisfying one."
