Lise's main focus and interest is textures and natural, undulating forms, and she is constantly exploring new techniques, blends of materials and an array of found objects to use as tools. Informed by her memories of growing up in Norway, surrounded by mountains, forests and rocky beaches. she uses slips, oxides, natural ash and glazes to recreate some of this rich colour palette, and fires to 1260 C in oxidation. Lise's work spans from functional ware and vases, through to purely sculpturalvessels and forms, and often falls somewhere in between. She is more interested in aesthetics than function and hopes that many of her pieces stand up as objects in their own right without the need for flowers or a domestic use for the viewer to enjoy them. Each piece is handmade, and no two items are ever exactly the same.
