Sally's aim is to create beautiful, handmade jewellery with a sense of fun. myBearHands began as a hobby alongside work, selling through local table top markets. Since then, with lots of hard work, a few late nights and many cups of tea, it has grown into a full time career.
With a background in illustration, narrative is a recurring theme, and collections are often based around characters or stories from classic texts. Sally works with a mixture of creative technologies and handmade processes to transform her drawings into jewellery. The result is subtly playful, the unusual imagery being set off by the choice of simple, classic materials.
"When story telling isn't the focus, I love playing around with new materials and techniques. I work with brass, resin, silver, wood and silk among others, and use casting and laser cutting to bring my designs to life. My aim is to create jewellery that is contemporary and wearable with that element of fun I mentioned at the start - the 'Glitter Box' collection being the perfect example!"
