Tim PrykeTim studied at Brighton Polytechnic and returned to Sussex after travelling through Asia and Australia. He draws his inspiration from the High Weald landscape, especially through the change of seasons and the differences in light throughout the day.
He paints with oils on board, and always prefers to paint in the open air, with the landscape in front of him. "I would describe my style as impressionistic. Painting to me is almost like a meditation; I absorb the atmosphere and let my subconscious do the rest. I’ve known the landscape all my life, and I find it very comfortable and reassuring, but it never ceases to surprise. Most of the surprises come from the way the light plays on the landscape at different times of day through the seasons." Tim can be found working within a five-mile radius of Ticehurst, normally looking towards the hills in the South. |
